Renewal of Practising Certificate for Year 2025

Apply for your Practising Certificate(s) for Year 2025

The Singapore Nursing Board (SNB) issues practising certificates (PCs) to all nurses and midwives on its Register and Roll. The renewal for the PC for Year 2025 starts from 1 Sep 2024. Please note that this is NOT applicable for nurses/midwives who are on PROVISIONAL registration/enrolment.

Nurses/Midwives who have not practised nursing for a continuous period of 5 years are required to attend a Return-to-Nursing programme before they can practise nursing again. This applies to those nurses/midwives who are holding a valid PC and have not practised nursing/midwifery for the past 5 years.

It is the responsibility of the individual nurse or midwife to apply and pay for the renewal of PC no less than 1 month before the expiry date of the current PC (31 Dec 2024). All nurses/midwives must login to their SNB account using their Singpass and submit an online application for the renewal of PC for Year 2025. Please email to SNB at SNB@spb.gov.sg if you have login issues.

For nurses/midwives who are on Employer Pay On Behalf (EPOB) scheme, they must submit an online application for the renewal of PC by 30 Sep 2024.

For nurses/midwives who are on existing GIRO scheme, they must submit an online application for the renewal of PC by 30 Sep 2024 before the deduction is made from their bank account on 7 Oct 2024.

GIRO or EPOB nurses/midwives who fail to submit an online application for the renewal of PC by 30 Sep 2024 have to submit an online application for PC renewal and pay for the PC for Year 2025 by other payment modes.

A late application fee for PC will be incurred if the online application for PC renewal is made after 30 Nov 2024.

Late Application Fees for Practising Certificate are:

a) Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse (Psychiatric) $40
b) Registered Midwife or Enrolled Nurse $30
c) Registered Nurse (Advanced Practice) $30

Key Events and Responsibilities in the Renewal of Nurses/Midwives Practising Certificate

For more information on the Key Events and Responsibilities, please refer to Key Events and Responsibilities.

Note:

  1. Nurses/midwives who are eligible and wish to opt for Employer Pay On Behalf (EPOB) scheme should have sought prior confirmation from their employers that they are paying for their PC fees and submit an online application for the renewal of PC by 30 Sep 2024. SNB will verify with the employers if they are paying for the PC fees by end October. If the employer rejects EPOB payment of the nurse/midwife’s PC fee, SNB will withdraw the nurse/midwife’s application for renewal of PC and notify the nurse/midwife via email to submit a new online application and make payment for the PC fee via credit/debit card. Hence, nurses/midwives are to ensure that their email addresses are correct and up to date.
  2. GIRO deduction will be carried out on 7 Oct 2024 for nurses/midwives who are already on GIRO scheme and have submitted their application for the renewal of PC online by 30 Sep 2024.
  3. For other payment methods, please refer here.

For SUCCESSFUL Renewal of Practising Certificate

SNB has launched electronic PC (e-PC) in Feb 2022 to replace hardcopy PC. Nurses/Midwives will receive an email notification on the steps to view and download the e-PC upon successful PC renewal.

Note:
Nurses/Midwives are not allowed to renew their Practising Certificate if they did NOT practise nursing/midwifery for a continuous period of 5 years. If they wish to recommence their nursing practice in Singapore in the future, they are required to attend a Return-to-Nursing programme before they can be considered for the renewal of Practising Certificate and practise nursing subsequently.
