The Council may require a foreign-trained person with a diploma/degree, other than a diploma specified in the OHT Schedule, to undergo and pass an examination conducted or arranged by the Council or by such other person as the Council may appoint.
Criteria for Qualifying Examination for OHTs:
(i) offer of employment (compulsory) and
(ii) Singaporean/PR, married to Singaporean/PR and children of PR's (compulsory),
(iii) possess a relevant basic qualification.
Applicants must fulfil criteria (i) and (ii).
The examination will be conducted in English.
* Foreign-trained applicants whose first language is not English are required to submit exam results from the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) orOccupational English Test (OET), within the minimum score accepted by SDC can be considered, subject to a 2-year validity period based on the date of the test.
- IELTS - at least 7 for ALL components (Listening, Reading, Writing AND Speaking) in academic module.
- TOEFL - at least 250 marks for computer based test or 600 marks for paper-based test or 100 marks for internet-based test
- OET - at least Grade B

Important:
Before you make up your mind to apply and sit for the Qualifying Examination, kindly note that Section 15B(5) in the Dentists Regulations states that an applicant who is required by the Council to undergo the examination, shall be entitled to only 2 attempts at the examination and both attempts to be taken within a period of 12 months of each other.

SDC’s secretariat will conduct source verification on qualification(s) with awarding body before it is forwarded to Council for consideration.

Fee
Kindly note that the examination fee for Qualifying Examination is$1,500.00 (non-refundable).
