2018 EDITION OF THE SINGAPORE DENTAL COUNCIL ETHICAL CODE AND ETHICAL GUIDELINES (ECEG)

The Singapore Dental Council (SDC) Ethical Code and Guidelines (ECG) was first published in 2006. Over the past decade, the scope and development of dentistry has evolved, advanced and become more complex. Innovations in dental technology, extensive adoption of electronic means of communication and changing expectations of the public and patients have necessitated the revision of the ECG to keep pace with the rapidly changing landscape.

An Ethics Committee, comprising Council members and dental practitioners, was formed and has reviewed the ECG. Coupled with extensive consultation sessions facilitated by Singapore Dental Association, the ECG is now revised as the Ethical Code and Ethical Guidelines (ECEG). The revised ECEG will better support dental practitioners to traverse ethical issues encountered in modern dental practices and continue to uphold high moral standards in the profession.

SDC is pleased to release the 2018 edition of the ECEG which will come into force on 1 January 2019. The 2018 ECEG can be downloaded from www.sdc.gov.sg. The 2006 ECG will remain in force until this date. Should you have any queries, kindly email us at SDC@spb.gov.sg.
