1.   An election will be held from Tuesday, 2 July 2019 (8.00am) to Tuesday, 16 July 2019 (11.59pm) to fill five (5) vacancies in the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) arising from the expiry of the term of office for five elected members.
       
2.  We are pleased to announce that the following 10 candidates are standing for election:

(a)  Dr Chia Kok Hoong;
(b)  Dr Chuang Wei Ping;
(c)  Dr Ho Kok Sun;
(d)  Dr Huang Shoou Chyuan;
(e)  Dr Leong Choon Kit;
(f)   Dr Lim Ah Leng;
(g)  Dr Lye Tong Fong;
(h)  Dr Ng Ronald Paul;
(i)   Dr Ou Yang Youheng; and
(j)   Dr Venkataraman Anantharaman

3.   The five (5) candidates with the highest number of votes will be elected and shall hold office for a period of three (3) years.

Voting is compulsory

4.   Voting is compulsory for all fully registered medical practitioners resident in Singapore who have a valid practising certificate during the election period. A doctor who is required to vote and fails to do so shall not be entitled to apply for a practising certificate unless he/she satisfies the Registrar that he/she had a good and sufficient reason for not voting at the election; or he/she pays to SMC a penalty of $500.

5.   Voting will be conducted online via the Professional Registration System (PRS). Please login to PRS using your SingPass.

6.   The online voting system will open from Tuesday, 2 July 2019 (8.00am) to Tuesday, 16 July 2019 (11.59pm). No votes can be cast after Tuesday, 16 July 2019 (11.59pm).

7.   Please note that you cannot authorise another person to vote on your behalf.

8.  Once you have submitted your vote successfully, you will be provided with a voting reference (e.g. SMC2019-xxxx).

9.  Please refer to the attached information sheet and the step-by-step guide for details on the online voting in the PRS.
