Registration of TCM practitioners in Singapore is governed by the Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Act 2000.
A REGISTERS OF TCM PRACTITIONERS
There are two categories of TCM practitioners registered by the TCM Practitioners Board:
- TCM physicians who can also practise acupuncture
- Acupuncturists (currently only opened to qualified Singapore registered doctors and dentists)
B TYPES OF REGISTRATION OF TCM PRACTITIONERS
The types of registration that may be granted to a qualified TCM practitioner are:
- Full Registration
Full registration allows a TCM practitioner to practise his prescribed area(s) of TCM on his own in Singapore.
- Conditional Registration
Conditional registration allows a TCM practitioner to work in an approved TCM healthcare establishment, under the supervision of a TCM practitioner on full registration. TCM practitioner under conditional registration has to adhere to the conditions of registration as required by the Board.
C REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
Application for registration may be made to the Board if the person meets all the criteria for registration under the TCM Practitioners Act and Regulations. A person may only be granted registration as a TCM practitioner if he is, in the opinion of the Board, a fit and proper person to be granted full or conditional registration as a TCM practitioner.
