Accredited Training
All candidates must have good standing in an ACGME-I accredited graduate medical education programme or an approved alternative.
Eligibility for the EM Examination (MCQ) is as follows, to be fulfilled at the time of exam application:
- Certified by their residency PD to have satisfactorily completed at least 30 months of residency training
- Projected to be accepted into R4 (Senior Residency)
- Passed the Division of Graduate Medical Studies (DGMS), National University of Singapore (NUS), Master of Medicine (MMed) EM examinations or the Intermediate Examination in Emergency Medicine (IEEM) of the Hong Kong College of Emergency Medicine (HKCEM)
All four components of the EM Examination are required for Exit Certification.

The full-time residency training must fulfil all accredited training requirements set forth by ACGME-I and those specified under Singapore’s Country Addendum.
Residents are expected to be competent in the six (6) ACGME-I General Competencies.
- Patient care and procedural skills,
- Medical knowledge,
- Practice-based learning and improvement,
- Interpersonal and communication skills,
- Professionalism and
- Systems-based practice.
Verification of the fulfilment of these requirements will be provided by the Programme Directors.
