Medicine has become far more complicated today. Doctors are expected to perform at very high levels of skill and consistency, in order to meet increasing patient expectations, and to stand up to scrutiny. Training and assessment is important and the Specialists Accreditation Board determines the qualifications, experience and other conditions, and the training programmes to be recognised for persons who intend to qualify for registration as specialists under the Medical Registration Act.
